AIG losses originated out of London?

The media are insinuating that the big AIG losses were made in London with ultra light Brown orientated level of regulation. The London branch was actually a French business, but they left regulation of it to London, enough said.

They call gold 2001 the Brown bottom, I wonder what history will call this global financial fiasco ?
